Internal Medicine Associates of Cincinnati focuses on providing an outstanding doctor-patient relationship with great access and availability.
I believe that the key to great primary care is getting to know my patients, having the time to perform a careful history and physical exam, coordinating care and advocating for my patients when specialists need to be involved.
About Concierge Care
As a concierge primary care practice, Internal Medicine Associates of Cincinnati does not bill health insurance. Instead, there is an annual membership fee that includes unlimited visits. This allows me to limit my practice size, which in turn provides flexibility and allows me the opportunity to spend more time with each patient.
For a single annual fee, you’ll receive an evidence-based history and physical exam, unlimited appointments with plenty of time to discuss your medical concerns, direct coordination with any specialists, direct access to Dr. Piersma, as well as hospital consultation (when appropriate).
I believe that the benefits of concierge medicine can be summed up in a single word: TIME. There is more time for me to listen to you. More time to delve into complex medical problems and to perform meaningful preventative care. More time to coordinate your care with the best specialists in town or at a tertiary care center elsewhere.
Being your physician under this model allows me to be your advocate, helping you negotiate our complex medical system for the best health outcomes, because nothing is more valuable than your health. It is proven that this type of personalized, hands-on approach to primary care can improve outcomes and decrease hospitalizations.
I studied at and completed my training at the University of Michigan, a nationally ranked top 10 medical school and Internal Medicine residency program. I have great community roots and resources, with excellent connections to other medical specialists.
I am one of the only concierge Internists in Cincinnati who uses EPIC (with MyChart) for electronic medical records. This is the same system that all major health systems in our city and many across the country use, which means that, when you see a specialist affiliated with our health systems, they already have your current health history and list of medications in their system. If you find yourself unexpectedly in the hospital or unable to give an emergency room your health information, it will already be in their system for easy, fast access.
I believe this approach to your medical care allows me to be both your doctor and your advocate when you need it most.
